Songket, a textile within the brocade category, is meticulously handwoven using silk or cotton and adorned with intricate patterns using gold or silver threads. The metallic threads are deftly incorporated between the silk or cotton weft threads in a weaving technique known as supplementary weft weaving. This method results in a distinctive shimmering effect as the metallic threads elegantly stand out against the background cloth.
