Pua Kumbu heritage motif, dream-woven by a dedicated Iban community artisan. Made over days, not minutes. Authentic heritage, directly from the weaver.

By Jelebai Ak Sumok

Labung Bungai Nain - the kind hearted snake.

The image of the crown of the snake is used as protection for the owner or the wearer, so that disaster does not befall them. In the old times, this was woven as a thin scarf and wrapped around the warrior's head. Today, most will store a pua like this in the car, handbag, or somewhere in the home.

Handwoven cotton Pua, natural dyes of akar penawar landak (fibraurea tinctorial root) and tarum (marsdenia tinctorial).

Dimensions: 174 × 17.5 cm
